BTB_BRICKS Interview

Happy Friday everyone!!!! It is time to get back into the feature Friday posts and today, I have @btb_bricks

I reached out to them and wanted to interview them because they produce some really amazing photos annddd super super friendly and awesome to just talk to. It felt like I was speaking to a friend I have known for awhile. Also, I learned quite a bit about life and how important balance is between work and the things that you enjoy. Like lego photography for instance.

Of course, what first drew me into this account were those awesome photos I mentioned. They take minifigs outside and set them up in nature and make some magic! Like most of us, lego was a big part of their childhood. They used to build huge lego bases in their father’s garage until they were satisfied with it. Then, they broke it down to to do it all over again! I can just imagine how cool these bases would have been and I hope they make some in the future for us to see. But throughout life, it seems like playing with Lego sort of fizzled out, which I can relate to. Luckily for us though, they moved out and they rekindled their love for lego once more!

It seems like they are natural at lego photography as well. If you would have told me that they were only using an Iphone 13 camera and basic software to edit their photos, I would not have believed you. But alas, here we are. That is all the equipment they are using and WOW. I mean, you have looked at these photos right? I guess having a background in game design and media studies helps in terms of minifig placement and creativity! Equally, they have come a long way from their first photo. First few photos are simple and do not seem too edited. But as you continue to look through their gallery, you will start to see different angles and themes and even added effects during the editing process. Even the backdrops of the photos are stunning and really elevate the visual experience. Though they only use minifigs as the main focus of each photo, I have not once became bored of the photos which I feel like is quite a victory and what sets this account apart from many others out there.

The other amazing thing about @btb_bricks is their mind set about life and doing things they enjoy and how they have set things up to allow for a beautiful balance. You see, they understand the need to work and do things that you may not exactly enjoy, but as long as you equally do things away from that that make you happy. It is probably even better if you are able to have this mixture every single day. This way, you do not fizzle out and live a unhappy day. Luckily, they are able to take some minifigs with them on their walk to work and are able to take a few pictures here and there. Then, on the weekend, that is when they dedicate sometime to take more extravagant photos and editing. Also, they have a backlog of photos ready to be posted in the off chance they do not get the opportunity to take one that day. This allows them to post every single day, or close to it, but reduces the stress of having to do everything last minute for the post.

Finding a balance is something I have personally struggled with. I have often times worked two jobs, 10-16 hour days for weeks at a time with not a lot of time to do things I enjoyed. Or, if I did have some time to myself, I would usually just sleep because of how tired of I was. To this day, I still struggle with it, but after talking with @btb_bricks , I am trying hard to set things up to create this balance for myself so I can enjoy my time on this planet.

I truly believe this account is super underrated and deserves a huge following base. So if you enjoy their photos as much as I do. Please Please PLEASEEEEE go to their profile and give them a follow! I am sure you will not be disappointed. Thank you very much for reading all of this. I hope you feel inspired to continue your photography journey or even start yours! I also hope you give @btb_bricks a follow and follow them to continue seeing their journey!
